How do I enter my kilometres?

Here are some handy tips about data entry and some of CycleSmart's features:

  1. Daily emails are most useful for people who have regular and predictable cycling habits i.e. ride every day or the same days each week, but not necessarily the same distance each day.
  2. They are also a good prompt to encourage you to cycle more to work.
  3. You can select the days you wish to receive emails by logging in to CycleSmart, going to Edit my profile and scrolling down to Cycling Options. You then tick the appropriate boxes.
  4. To record your odometer reading, reply to the automated [CycleSmart] Daily Email, and make sure that in the reply, your odometer (or trip meter) reading appears like this: [234]km
  5. If you use a trip meter, don't forget to reset your trip meter after entering your data.
  6. If you want to enter data for a day but did not receive an email on that day, simply login to www.cyclesmart.net where you can enter steps for the current day or select a different day. If you make a mistake, you can also alter or delete a previous day's data.

If you use your bike mainly for commuting to and from work, but can't or don't want to enter data for every day you ride, there is now a new option which allows you to enter data covering several days.

  • Login to the CycleSmart website and go to Enter my kilometres. The system assumes that the data you are entering also covers the current day, if it does not, select 'Enter data for a different day'.
  • Enter your odometer reading, tick the days that you rode since the last time you entered your kilometres then click Continue.
  • The system will divide the total distance equally over the days you rode.
