Understanding cycling data entry
Most CycleSmart users enter data from an Odometer - Odometer readings require very little effort to keep up to date; as they are cumulative totals, you can miss a few days, come back and enter your reading and the system will estimate your daily travel. There are two important points to be aware of, though:
Do you cycle every day?
If you ride your bike every day, ticking this check box will change the system's behaviour when you email odometer readings in to spread any readings you give it acros all days, meaning you can miss one or more days' emails and the system will still give you an accurate daily estimate. If you don't ride every day, and will be using e-mail as your primary entry method, it's important that you send an email each day you ride, even just to tell us that your odometer hasn't changed or your trip meter reads zero.
If in doubt, enter your data via the website - the website will ask you to tick which days you've ridden.
Trip Meters
If your cycle computer only has a trip meter, and does not have an odometer (total distance reading), you can indicate this with the 'I only have a Trip Meter' check box. This will allow you to enter your trip meter readings periodically
