Bikes on public transport
Minister for Public Transport, Lynne Kosky announced on the 15th of February that the ban of bikes on trains during peak hours would be reversed.
Bicycles are once again to be allowed free of charge on all Connex services as long as they are stored inside the last door of the last carriage of metropolitan services. Bikes will be allowed on all V/Line train services. And from April, tram and bus users will be allowed to take folding bikes on all services, provided they are folded and contained within a carry bag.
In a further boost for combination bike and train users, Minister Kosky announced $1 million in funding for more secure, modern bike storage facilities across the metropolitan and regional train network.
